FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  •  Who are the mentors ?
    All SPACE mentors are women and gender-diverse individuals who are engaged in policy advocacy in ICTs and/or are engaged in advocacy for Community Networks through enabling community processes and technology development.

  • Who are the participants?
    The participants are based in the Global South. Some of them are engaged in community networks in their countries and others are researchers or academics who also believe in the changing effects that community networks can hold on the world. They are all aware of the gender bias that regulation and policy spaces can have and are determined to make positive change on the policy advocacy spaces.

  • What is the duration of the programme?
    There are 10 weeks in total. This includes an introductory session, a mid programme session for participants to get to think of projects together as well as one last session where participants pitch their project ideas.

  • When do sessions take place?
    All sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 13 to 14:30 UTC.

  • How many sessions am I meant to participate in?
    You can participate in as many sessions as you can. There are 17 sessions in total and we encourage you to attend all of them if you are able to. Participating in all of the sessions will allow you to meet all of the mentors and build connections with your fellow participants.

  • What if I skip a session?
    You will find the documentation of the session on the wiki but we will not be keeping a record of the sessions online.

  • What is expected out my participation in SPACE?
    We expect you to enjoy your time, learn something new, engage with participants and mentors, share the impact that you have made through your work and to abide to the code of conduct.

  • Who will be in the room?
    In each session you will be with participants, mentors, the tech support personnel, the SPACE coordinator, the translator and the session documenter. This year we will also open the room for guests such as the 2021 edition participants who wish to refresh their memories on some of the topics.

  • Who should I contact if I have questions and doubts?
    This year, the coordinator will keep a meeting room open for participants who have specific questions or concerns. The office hours will be communicated with participants during the introductory session.

  • Where do meetings take place?
    All meetings will take place in the same Zoom room which will be shared via email. For security purposes we will not post the meeting room on any public medium.
