A1.3 Consolidating and finalizing the national strategies for the gender integrative approach in the focus countries. 

Activities

  1. Identify barriers to women’s participation in CCCIs in South Africa.
  2. Identifying local technology needs of women in CCCIs in South Africa on a local level.

Outcomes

  1. Increased understanding of the barrier through identifying social, economic, cultural, and technological challenges hindering women's participation in the CCCI.
  2. Enhance gender-responsive technology solutions by identifying local technology that caters to women's realities in CCCI.
  3. Improved alignment of CCCI with the specific needs and preferences of women.
  4. Evidence-based insight to inform policies and programs that enhance women's participation and involvement in CCCIs.

Outputs

  1. Report on barriers affecting women's participation in the CCCI and recommendations to overcome these challenges.
  2. Report on specific technology needs for women and recommendations for gender-responsive technology adoption.


A 1.7 Provide gender-specific capacity building, sensitisation and mentoring for support organisations and their communities within focus countries. This includes various strategies for community engagement, movement building and knowledge and learning integrative approaches such as: solidarity circles, training of trainers, referral systems and in person exchanges.

Activities

  1. Assess the best way to integrate gender in the school of community networks         training through a review of the curriculum and identifying training needs of the women in CCCIs in SA.
  2. Map org and community groups working on the engagement of women in communities for best practices.
  3. Conduct three women circles with women in CCCIs and their respective communities.

Outcomes

  1. Enhanced strategies on integrating gender in the South Africa school of CN.
  2. Strengthening collaboration and knowledge sharing with relevant organizations and communities engaged in women's empowerment.

Outputs

  1. Report on best practices and recommendations for gender integration in the national school.
  2. Report identifying key organizations and community groups working on women's engagement.
  3. Three women's circles conducted, with documented insight and action points on gender issues in CCCI in the communities.


A 1.9 Gain a deeper understanding of identified priority thematics through the establishment of three distinct communities of practice which will promote the exchange between focus countries in regions. 

CoP on e-commerce and economic empowerment through ICT (with SMMEs and cooperatives as models)
 


A 2.7 Promote the usage, learning and adaptation of relevant local gender-responsive technologies which respond to women’s needs and other gendered realities in the communities through exchanges and learning spaces. 

    Activities 

  1. Gender sensitisation workshop with CSOs.
  2. Organize workshops with key regulatory bodies, to raise awareness about the importance of gender-responsive policies based on the policy CN framework sensitization planned with civil society.

Outcomes

  1. Increase engagement of regulatory bodies on gender-responsive policies.
  2. Enhanced collaboration between policymakers, advocates, and stakeholders.
  3. List of commitments from regulators on integrating gender perspective.


 Outputs

  1. Increased adoption and implementation of gender-inclusive policies in regulatory frameworks.
  2. Strengthened partnership between gender advocates and regulatory bodies.
  3. Enhanced representation of women in the policy-making processes in S.A.

 

A 2.8 Support the visibility and engagement of women in CCCs by securing the necessary resources for women to advance their engagement in CCCIs and other relevant ICT spaces for the advancement of gender responsive strategies.

 Activities

  1. Organize workshops with key regulatory bodies, to raise awareness about the importance of gender-responsive policies based on the policy CN framework sensitization planned with civil society.
  2. Gender sensitisation workshop with CSOs.
