Integrating Gender into Policy Guidelines

The LocNet team has been inclusive of gender and other socially and politically intersecting issues while drafting commenting or advising on regulations and policy papers. The team now wishes to synthesize and extend best practices and guidelines for integrating gender analysis and language in the realm of policy, specifically that is tailored to the needs of regulators.

"A novel concept like this (CNs and gender equality within CNs) should be brought to the fore by speaking about it more" said one of the experts interviewed while drafting this report.

The findings from this report aim to inform the design of workshops for the integration of gender in policy and regulation for community-centred connectivity. To this end, this report aims to:
Highlight the importance of gender-inclusive/gender-integrated language in advocating for community-centred connectivity initiatives.
Map and review existing gender work in ICT policy and regulation, highlighting successes and identifying gaps.
Develop strategies, including opportunities to integrate gender into ICT policy and regulation, for addressing gaps in Africa with considerations for LAC and Asia.
