2025 reflections
In 2025, the team was able to take the work of implementation at a deeper level. This allowed the gender coordinators in the respective regions and countries to address the priorities that were expressed during national consultations. In countries like Kenya and SA, a lot more attention to understanding the needs and priorities of gender engagement and integration is needed.

In Colombia, Colnodo led the work with the support of the team. The reflections form Colombia inspire the accompaniment of their team from the gender coordinator, if they deem it necessary. The team voiced needing more training and skills on certain areas of gender integration in facilitation with communities. The audionovella will also be a methodology of choice.

Activities from the LocNet strategy

A 1.3 Consolidating and finalizing the national strategies for the gender integrative approach in the focus countries.

A 1.7 Provide gender-specific capacity building, sensitisation and mentoring for support organisations and their communities within focus countries. This includes various strategies for community engagement, movement building and knowledge and learning integrative approaches such as: solidarity circles, training of trainers, referral systems and in person exchanges.

A 1.9 Gain a deeper understanding of identified priority thematics through the establishment of three distinct communities of practice which will promote the exchange between focus countries in regions.

A 2.7 Promote the usage, learning and adaptation of relevant local gender-responsive technologies which respond to women’s needs and other gendered realities in the communities through exchanges and learning spaces.

A 2.8 Support the visibility and engagement of women in CCCs by securing the necessary resources for women to advance their engagement in CCCIs and other relevant ICT spaces for the advancement of gender responsive strategies.

A 2.9 Consolidate the feminist approach to gender engagement in CCC learning and movement building.

Outcome 3 of the strategic plan is about consolidating an advocacy approach for policy change. In the gender team we will thrive to link bridging the digital divide, women's empowerment and advocacy for gender equity as a way to support advocacy efforts in each context.

A 3.5 Highlight the work of women in CCCIs in the focus countries as well as the work of the gender coordinators

A 3.12 Promote the policy guideline for regulators and develop a workshop targeting regulators in ICT for gender responsive policies in CCCIs.



Outcome 4 focuses on the LocNet team itself. The gender team will provide various sessions that have been identified as priorities through observations, self-reported needs and at the Cebu meeting.


A 4.3 Provide gender sensitization and internal learning and capacity building on relevant issues related to gender engagement within the LocNet team.
